Ascot is a 5 min walk to the town centre. The Pulse Energy Recreation Centre is also a 5min walk in the other direction. There you can swim in the heated pools or have a workout in the fully equipped gym. North Beach is a 15min walk where you can swim, surf, fish off the pier or go beachcombing. Next door to the facility is the best bowling green in the Buller region and with prior arrangement, you can enjoy a roll-up or two.

Westport is an ideal location for social gatherings, conferences or simply to relax and get away from the hustle and bustle of busy city life and soak up the beautiful surroundings. It is also an artist's or photographer's ideal haunt with its magical inspiring surrounds.

The cycle/walkways are now a great way to see and experience local scenery. Ascot is close to these and just a short drive to the very popular Cape Foulwind/Seal Colony Walkway. One of the most excellant times of the day is as the sun is setting, sometimes the sky is lit up with an assortment of colours. The colony of seals are always presant and easily seen from the safe viewing plateform. Many other walks north of Westport are only a drive away, Charming Creek, Chasm Creek and Oparara Basin in Karamea, just to name a few.Come and stay with us and utilize our convienant central base to do some extraordinary exploring. The Old Ghost Road cycleway is in the area also. Your bikes can be stored safely over night and transport to and from the Old ghost road can be arranged.

Punakaiki Is a short drive from westport, Punakaiki is home of the world famous pancake rocks and blow holes. With some of the most beautiful walks you will ever see, horse treking, rock climbing and canoeing.

Westport has some amazing new walk ways including the new Kawatiri river trail, the Millenium track and the Kawatiri beach reserve.

A short drive north takes you to the histroical Denniston township. one of the westcoast orginal mining town. Step back in time and spend the day walking around and exploring the old ghost town.

1 block fro the Asoct you will find Bazils Surf School!! They have a range of surf boards wet suits (lessons avalible), paddle boards, mountain bikes and e bikes for hire!!
